I was a Freshman in High School, when my home was affected by sexting, cyberbullying and pornography. It didn't happen with a smart phone because iPhones hadn't even hit the shelves yet. It happened with a Flip Phone and A FAX LINE. My parents came to me lost, confused and asked me to help them protect our family from the dangers of the unknown cyberspace. As a result of this and other painful experiences, I have dedicated my life to learning everything about creating a safe virtual place for people to work and thrive online. I founded Digital Mom Talk when my parents and their business associates asked me to teach them how to do what I do. Now I spend my time sharing my incredible knowledge in a way that parents and business owners can relate to and easily apply in their own endeavors.
I've worked hard over the past few years making sure you will find actionable step-by-step handouts, guides, up-to-date tech courses, and anything else you need to enhance your digital parenting arsenal. If you want to learn how to implement these practices in your home, join the Be Digitally Prepared newletter.
Remember, we're the first generation to raise children fully immersed in a digital world. People are sharing only what works for them, or in clinical studies. Not here. I will give you the complete package on the solid foundation the world should've laid before we handed our kids tech devices.
I am from Las Vegas. I have a love/hate relationship with the weather here, but it's still home. I live with my financial expert husband, Daniel, and our beautiful children. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Technology Emphasis in Networking And Security, love unofficially adopting every teenager I meet and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. When I'm not working doing cybersecurity consulting, I run this website, teach classes-to both parents and kids-and help my husband run his business.
The most important thing in the world to both of us is our children. Our favorite family activities are classic and old school fun-movies outside, camping, hiking, lake trips and the original video games of the 80s & 90s. (I had to compromise with my husband somewhere hahaha) When I'm not running this business, I like to read books in our hammock outside, create adventures with my kids, color (Rad and Happy is my favorite and no that's not sponsored or affiliated!!) and dabble in graphic design and eat almost anything covered in chocolate!!
Fun Fact About Me: I could be a midget, but I'm not; legally anyway.
